Three-day programme for international guests

Teachers traveling from abroad to Sweden for attending the Nobel Prize Teacher Summit 2018 will have the possibility to take part in a three-day program arranged by the Nobel Center. When you register for October 5 you can also register for attending the extended program.

Thursday, October 4

8.30-17.00 The democracy mission in the Swedish schools

Introduction, school visits and workshop at the Nobel Museum

All international participants will be welcomed at the Nobel Museum and will receive an introduction about how the democracy mission in the Swedish schools is formulated. Then you will travel in groups to various schools in the Stockholm area, with a clearly formulated assignment to look at how the democracy mission is noticeable in the instruction – even though this instruction is in a language in which you are not fluent. During this visit you will sit in on classes and meet pupils, teachers and school administrators.

The Nobel Museum will treat you to breakfast and afternoon coffee. You will eat lunch at the school’s own dining room, an experience in itself.

Friday, October 5

8.30-16.30 Nobel Prize Teacher Summit 2018

Münchenbryggeriet (The Brewery Conference Centre), Stockholm

A world without ignorance and racism starts in school. We invite you to spend a day together with Nobel Laureates, scientists, change makers and hundreds of dedicated colleagues from all over the world. How can you improve the way you promote democracy, non-violence and sustainable development in your daily work? And how can education based on science prepare our students to be tolerant and engaged citizens?

Saturday, October 6

Martin Luther King Exhibition, Nobel Museum

11.00 Special showing of the Nobel Museum’s new exhibition “The Right to Freedom – Martin Luther King, Jr.”, which deals with the civil rights movement and touches on the same themes as the Teacher Summit: the non-violent struggle against racism and discrimination.

Meet the Laureates

On the afternoon of October 6 there will be a special programme featuring two Nobel Laureates. They will talk about how their path to a Nobel Prize looked.
